A return to relationship-based business in a world of faceless transactions
At Saylor & Co., we believe that a trusted relationship is the primary lubricating element of the economy. Our vision for the world is to provide personalized, trusted products and services to consumers in a manner that prioritizes trust and accountability while avoiding arms-length interactions.
In a world increasingly dominated by anonymous transactions and automated systems, we stand for the inherent value of human connection in business. We believe that when you work with a company, you should know exactly who is responsible for your experience—and have confidence that this person is both willing and able to ensure your satisfaction.
The economic-genocide of the independent entrepreneur by ultra-big business (UBB) has been the driving mechanism of destruction in modern man's experience with buying and selling. Faceless bureaucracies have dehumanized people, making them feel inferior and insufficient when attempting to have a more personalized interaction—whether it's for product returns, quality complaints, product inquiries, or other concerns.
This has led to a more reserved and hostile consumer, which, in turn, reinforces the already glaring inadequacies of UBB. This toxic socio-economic feedback loop is no one's fault in particular. It is not done intentionally or consciously, and that is exactly the problem.
These UBBs are primarily run by boards of people who make decisions based on the whims of stockholders, and stockholders, in turn, base their whims largely on emotional reactions to the markets. They fail to realize that they are creating the very emotional conditions upon which their decisions are based. It is a psychotic feedback loop that very few can see, and thus it is highly unlikely to stop itself. The world is unconsciously desperate for a conscious economic entity to transact with.
A conscious economic entity can focus its intention and attention in ways that are simply impossible for the UBB bureaucracy. UBBs cannot address the problems they create because there is no ONE who is, will, or can take accountability for either their faults or their successes. The structure is designed to make personal accountability impossible, as one deals with 'the company,' an abstract, blameless concept—a sinkhole for fault.
We envision a future where companies are truly owned by their owners. A future where everyone in the chain of command is both willing and able to take personal responsibility for anything that goes awry, and where those who take responsibility can do so with the confidence that the next layers of leadership will back them fully. It's a future in which occurrences of negligence or error explicitly warrant the personal attention of the owner(s) themselves.
This future is realistic and is being built as we speak. Saylor & Co. operates on these principles of relationship, accountability, trust, and owned ownership. Even when our subcontractors err, we recognize that, ultimately, the responsibility is ours.
We are committed to creating a business ecosystem where personal connection, direct accountability, and mutual respect are not just ideals but everyday realities. This is our vision for the economy of tomorrow—one transaction, one relationship at a time.
